MUS 369C - Jazz Singers Units: 1 Small vocal ensemble focusing on repertoire for chamber choir, mixed voices, that is drawn from jazz, pop, and world traditions. Auditions required.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 4 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music from the jazz and popular traditions.
- Improvise in the jazz tradition.
- Read and notate music.
- Listen to, analyze, and describe music in the jazz tradition.
- Evaluate music and music performances.
- Understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
- Understand music in relation to history and culture.
