MUS 238 - Music Education Laboratory Ensemble Units: 1 Designed for music majors. Ensemble focused on performance on non-primary instruments, with an emphasis on performing elementary level repertoire suitable for school ensemble settings. Does not satisfy chamber ensemble requirement.
Credit Restrictions: May not be used to satisfy chamber ensemble requirement for BA in music.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 4 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Perform on a non-primary musical instrument in an authentic ensemble setting, designed to replicate an elementary or middle school band or orchestra.
- Perform elementary instrumental repertoire. Implement knowledge from instrumental techniques classes (MUS 231, 232, 233, 234) into a heterogeneous performance setting.
- Deepen knowledge of instrumental music pedagogy as part of preparing for teaching instrumental music in K-12 schools
