EPSY 643 - Family Therapy Units: 3 Discussion and activities in psychotherapeutic techniques. Theory and research dealing with family interaction and communication. Diagnostic and intervention methods for dysfunctional family systems.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Important major psychotherapy theories focusing on treatment of families.
- Basic skills & techniques related to the major family psychotherapy theories.
- How to apply these theories, skills & techniques to working with culturally diverse families; .
- Demonstrate facilitating communication and professional, collaborative relationships in psychotherapy settings.
- Demonstrate common problems and patterns of problematic interactions families bring to therapy.
- Demonstrate integrating strategies to work with families of diverse cultures.
- Demonstrate applying an Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice model of service delivery.
