EPSY 635 - Pre-Practicum Microcounseling Skills in Relational Practice Units: 2 Develop and practice the basic skills of systemic-relational counseling, especially the skills of listening. Use of brief videotaped counseling sessions (“microcounseling”). Students role-play to observe, analyze, and evaluate techniques of counseling.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate an awareness of diversity and social justice issues, as well as demonstrate competence in working with diverse clinical populations.
- Knowledgeable of and successfully apply appropriate legal and ethical guidelines necessary for the competent practice of marriage and family therapy.
- Conceptualize cases, articulate systemically-oriented treatment plans, and demonstrate overall competence in clinical practice and recovery-orientated care.
