HIST 630 - Graduate Historiography

Intensive readings and discussions on the writing and philosophy of history. Written and oral critical analyses are required.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Identify the major themes, approaches, or interpretive stances taken by modern historians on the field of history.
Develop analytic skills in identifying and critiquing the arguments of professional historians.
Read a piece of primary or secondary historical writing and be able to analyze the author’s perspective and biases.
Recognize and describe, in written and oral form, how particular historians demonstrate the objective and subjective nature of historical research.
Present their research at an in-class conference.
Organize their own portfolio of research created in the course.
Use these skills and terminology in writing a historiographical essay.
Create a Digital Historiography project which includes a website, podcasts, and an Aurasma project.
