COMM 387 - Advertising Design and Production Units: 4 An applied course emphasizing creative copywriting and layout design, media planning and buying, and account management. Students acquire hands-on experience in the preparation of advertising materials for the Pioneer Advertising Agency.
Prerequisites: COMM 357. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Understand important concepts, principles and techniques of advertising copywriting and layout design;
- Understand important concepts and mathematical formulas of media planning and sales;
- Understand print, broadcast, digital, and alternative media, and how they work to achieve advertising goals;
- Understand the roles, functions and activities of account managers, creatives, and media planners and buyers;
- Become proficient in the use of advertising design software and media planning software.
