HDEV 381 - Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Lifespan Human Development Units: 4 Interdisciplinary perspectives on lifespan human development from infancy to aging, examining physical, biological, cognitive, linguistic, emotional, and social development with reference to social, cultural, and individual contexts.
Prerequisites: Junior, senior or post-baccalaureate standing. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Identify and explain key characteristics of different development stages of infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and aging.
- Identify key characteristics of physical, biological, cognitive, linguistics, emotional, and social developments and explain the interactions among these developmental domains for each major developmental stage.
- Identify key contextual factors (social, cultural, and individual) and explain how they affect and interact with lifespan development.
- Utilize research findings about lifespan human development from the course readings to analyze and critique relevant real-life social and policy issues, in writing short positional statements with clear articulation of the issue, the relevant research findings, and conclusions.
