MGMT 622 - Managing the Global Workplace

Workforce issues faced by global managers and their solutions in the context of management theory and practice. International human resource & cross-cultural management issues in international organizations.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the HR issues facing global HR managers today in HR planning, recruitment, selection, compensation, performance management, training, and expatriate assignments.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural basis of employee behavior in the global workplace.
  3. Apply an understanding of cross-cultural management concepts to create effective international teams and negotiate effectively across cultures.
  4. Apply an understanding of cross-cultural management concepts in designing HR systems for different global regions.
  5. Conduct quality research on HR systems to design appropriate HR systems for different countries and cultures and present it to an informed audience.
