Essentials of documentary-style photography, including photojournalism. Covers camera basics and other hands-on techniques. Students create individual portfolios and serve as photographers for Pioneer Media.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Shoot and edit publishable pictures for The Pioneer print and online;
Explain and interpret fundamental media ethics and laws pertaining to visual journalism, and as articulated by the National Press Photographers Association;
Cover events and people with accuracy and concern for the power of visual representation.
