ENGR 220 - Statics Units: 3 An intermediate application of Newtonian mechanics to solve engineering problems. Fundamental concepts of mechanics, including resultants of force systems, free-body diagrams, equilibrium of rigid bodies, and analyses of structures.
Prerequisites: PHYS 135. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Develop knowledge of vector mathematics and application to engineering mechanics.
- Draw free-body diagrams. Perform force analysis for external reactions computation.
- Define and apply the concepts of particle and rigid-body equilibrium.
