TED 474 - Early Childhood Education: Professional Seminar and Practicum Units: 4 Culminating course in Early Childhood Education Minor. Focus on preschool models, standards based instruction, positive classroom environment, leadership, parent education and personal growth in selected area of early childhood curriculum. Includes supervised early childhood field practicum. Seminar Units: 3; Field Studies Units: 1
Prerequisites: All of: TED 470, TED 471, TED 472, TED 473. Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Exhibit knowledge of developmentally and culturally appropriate practices for children from birth to five years old.
- Understand California Foundations and NAEYC standards for early childhood education.
- Demonstrate understanding of theoretical underpinnings and practical aspects of early childhood education models and a firm understanding of the model in place in the program where they teach/supervise.
- Employ reflection as a tool for self-improvement. 5. Demonstrate leadership and professional responsibilities of professional ECE educators and leaders.
