COMM 485 - Future of Media and Society Units: 4 Study of the landscape of current and future media with the aim of creating stories about emerging media. Covers short, medium and long-term evolution in technology and culture. Uses scenario planning as a technique for considering complex, unpredictable interrelationships.
Prerequisites: Department consent. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Think critically about long-term issues media and organizational effectiveness and sustainability;
- Analyze significant trends about media and digital culture;
- Provide evidence-based claims addressing the future of media;
- Imagine innovative media and organizational transformation in 2040;
- Identify and explain different rates of societal and natural change over time as they relate to organizational transformation.
