CMPE 421 - Computer Architecture II Units: 3 Advanced computer organization and design. Topics chosen from among RISC architectures, computer arithmetic, pipelining, cache memory and parallel processors.
Prerequisites: CMPE 323. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Understand and implement advanced concepts for CPU architecture, such as pipelining, floating point processing and representation, multiplication and division;
- Understand and implement the control logic of advanced instructions for a CPU architecture;
- Use simulation software to implement advanced components of a CPU architecture processing.
