PH 100 - First Year Seminar in Public Health

Introduction to public health and healthcare systems from an interdisciplinary perspective focusing on critical thinking, effective communication, research and writing, and team building skills. Emphasis is on introducing students to self-directed learning skills that are critical for a health professional.

Explain health care issues using available informational resources and strategies.
Recognize critical thinking and decision-making skills based on empirical evidence.
Effectively use library and other databases to understand issues in health care.

Recognize what constitutes effective oral and in written communication in the discipline.
Understand ethical, responsible and professional behavior both in the classroom and in local communities.
