PH 385 - Vector Control Units: 3 The biology of vectors that transmit diseases to humans including invertebrates, vertebrates and microbes. Current methods for their control and management will be a key feature in the course.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: BIOL 230 with a C or better. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Discuss various categories of disease vectors important to humans.
- Discuss the basic biology of disease vectors.
- Discuss the history of vector-borne diseases globally and in California.
- Discuss the role of ecological and climate change on vector prevalence and distribution.
- Discuss the social, economic, and health impacts of vector-borne diseases.
- Produce a vector control policy for a given disease.
