INFO 210 - Introduction to Searching for and Evaluating Information

Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-E
Covers the process of developing a focused research question from a topic of your choice, translating that question into a sophisticated search strategy to find appropriate information sources, and finally learning methods to evaluate the information sources you find.

Prerequisites: Completion of GE area A2 and Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing.
Credit Restrictions: Not open to students with credit for INFO 220.

Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Construct a nuanced and scoped research question based on a topic of inquiry
Develop an effective search strategy, including identifying descriptive search words and appropriate sources of information to answer the research question
Develop and use a critical information evaluation strategy based on best practices for determining a source’s value in the context of the research question
