KIN 605 - Physiological Basis of Exercise and Wellness


Units: 4
Evaluating the impact of exercise and physical activity on physiological systems and their mechanisms of adaptation. Application of concepts to the mitigation of chronic disease will also be investigated.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Develop a foundational understanding of the adaptations of human work capacity and performance to exercise and physical activity.
  2. To understand the role that various physiological systems play in determining human ability to perform acute and chronic exercise and physical activity.
  3. Develop an understanding of the pathophysiology of selected conditions and chronic diseases.
  4. Evaluate exercise and physical activity as a means of preserving health and/or managing disease.
  5. Assess health to guide exercise prescription and programming.
