ART 493I - Graphic Design Senior Project


Units: 3
Students will formulate conceptually rich, multi-faceted portfolio quality work that showcases their ability to problem solve, innovate, communicate and achieve professional standards of work in print and electronic media and transition to postgraduate practice.

Prerequisites: B.F.A. major, Senior standing; ART 332.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Execute appropriate design methods, advanced capabilities with industry relevant tools, design thinking and research skills in the development and presentation of a comprehensive final design project;
  2. Exercise critical thinking, professional knowledge and decision making in reviewing, analyzing and responding to external critique and input for project advancement;
  3. Work independently demonstrating effective time management, planning skills, self-initiative and documentation of design process;
  4. Communicate clear and coherent reasoning for project concepts and design choices expressed through structured written, visual and oral presentation methods;
  5. Anticipate and plan a course of professional development that could include interviews, grant applications, competition entries and grad school application.
