ART 272 - Painting II Units: 3 Varied approaches to painting through class projects. Contemporary uses of the media, technical demonstrations and critiques. Focus on developing an open, personal process and body of work.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: Art 100. Prerequisites: ART 172. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Competently employ a range of painting materials, mixed media and techniques to construct paintings and supports;
- Safely use, store, recycle and dispose of materials in a healthy, environmentally conscious manner;
- Create artworks showing understanding of composition, color, independent thinking and inventiveness;
- Express familiarity with a broad context of historical and contemporary practices in painting, including current concepts relating to identity, social, political and cultural issues;
- Evaluate one’s own and other’s artwork using appropriate terminology in both oral and written formats.
