NURS 310 - Foundations of Professional Nursing Units: 2 This course is designed to introduce the student to the profession, practice, and discipline of nursing. Introduction to contemporary issues in nursing including theories, concepts, and principles used in the development and delivery of nursing care.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major. Co-requisites: NURS 311. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Apply natural, behavioral, scientific, and humanities theory and concepts to nursing practice.
- Identify ways nurses can support the safety and physiologic, psycho-emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs of a group of well individuals, families, and communities.
- Apply appropriate therapeutic professional communication skills/techniques in interaction with individuals, families and communities.
- Identify the steps of the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of well and mildly ill individuals.
- Discuss teaching/learning principles and strategies that target clients across the life span
- Recognize values and principles of ANA Code for Professional Nurses
