NURS 323 - Nursing Care of Adults I Practice Units: 4 This clinical practicum course provides students with nursing practice experience in a variety of settings, including simulation.
Prerequisites: All of: NURS 310, NURS 311, NURS 312, NURS 313, NURS 314, NURS 315, NURS 316, NURS 317. Co-requisites: NURS 320, NURS 321 and NURS 322. Credit Restrictions: Repeated course may not count toward Major requirements.
Repeatability: May be repeated once for credit for a maximum of 8 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Design and deliver nursing care to restore and maintain health for patients taking into account safety and physiologic, psycho-emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs.
- Use the steps of the nursing process to provide care for patients in a variety of clinical settings.
- Develop critical thinking skills to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Identify a problem/question in the clinical setting amenable to nursing research.
- Demonstrate responsibility/accountability to design/deliver and evaluate nursing care for health restoration and maintenance of patients in clinical settings.
- Apply communication and collaboration skills in the development of partnerships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care professionals.
- Demonstrate professional behaviors consistent with ANA Code for Professional Nurses in interactions with clients, family members, colleagues, and the public in various clinical settings.
