ANTH 370 - Anthropology in Action Units: 3 Application of anthropological theory and methods to selected contemporary problems, including public health issues and policy, education, families, community development. Service learning activity at a local community organization.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- define and explain essential terms in applied anthropology;
- apply the insights and methods of anthropology to real-world situations;
- explain how “academic” anthropology and applied anthropology relate to one another;
- discuss ethical considerations in applied work;
- analyze the role of non-profit organizations in US culture and in the international context.
