NURS 360 - Transition to Professional Nurse Role

This course builds upon previous nursing education and provides an exploration of contemporary healthcare issues for registered nurses transitioning to the professional nurse role.

Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing: Post-Licensure Concentration major.
Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Evaluate professional, ethical principles and concepts as they apply to nursing practice.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in professional writing.
  3. Analyze interventions that support health promotion and optimal health outcomes with a focus on older adults.
  4. Utilize evidence-based resources in nursing practice.
  5. Use enhanced critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and clinical judgment to address case scenarios in nursing practice.
  6. Examine competencies and practices that support interprofessional collaboration and promote a culture of safety.
  7. Explore cultural, genomic, economic, and social determinants of health.
  8. Demonstrate literacy and competence in healthcare organizational information management systems.
  9. Identify the role of technology as it relates to nursing practice, administration and healthcare quality improvement.
