PSYC 201 - Careers in Psychology


Units: 1
An introduction to typical career paths in psychology, including careers requiring undergraduate (BA/BS) and graduate degrees (e.g., MA, PhD, or MD). Students will learn about these paths, reflect on their interests, and apply practical career development skills.

Prerequisites: PSYC 100, Psychology major
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Online Asynchronous or Online Synchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student option)
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. List career options for students completing undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology.
  2. Identify job, graduate school, and volunteer opportunities that fit your career goals.
  3. Write a resume/curriculum vitae and cover letter.
  4. Identify a personalized career plan based on your interests.
  5. Understand how to apply to graduate school.
