FIN 481 - Real Estate Analytics


Units: 3
Evaluate real estate property types and markets. Followed by analytical applications of real estate finance topics pertaining to real estate investment trusts (REITS), mortgage backed securities (MBS) pricing, and real estate portfolio analysis.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online Asynchronous or Online Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Identify real estate property types.
2. Select property market, characteristics, and data to create and analyze models.
3. Collect, model and interpret survey data from sources such as Bureau of Census.
4. Use capitalization rate data to estimate comparable rates for subject properties in valuation
of real estate.
5. Analyze capitalization rate data for various property types.
6. Demonstrate analytics for Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) data.
7. Construct Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) instruments and apply data analytics.
8. Create and evaluate a portfolio containing real estate securities.
