CHEM 311 - Computers in Chemistry


Units: 3
Analysis of chemical problems utilizing spreadsheets, mathematical software packages, computer programming, and computational chemistry methods.

Prerequisites: CHEM 112
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Use spreadsheets (e.g. Excel) to
  2. Import and export data
  3. Perform data analysis
  4. Present results using built-in graphing and charting capabilities
  5. Use Python to develop scripts that can be used to analyze data and report results.
  6. Utilize modern computational methods to model molecular behavior and predict properties.
  7. Visualize molecular properties using modern software.
