NURS 603 - Health Care Informatics Units: 3 Provides knowledge and skills for navigating healthcare information technology to enhance patient care delivery. Health informatics used for communication, care coordination, interprofessional collaboration, health information management and data analysis for improved healthcare outcomes are discussed.
Prerequisites: Admission to M.S. Nursing program. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Evaluate current and future healthcare information technology needs for optimal patient outcomes.
- Identify barriers and solutions for the adoption of health care informational technologies.
- Analyze data and data management systems for improved outcomes of care.
- Apply ethical health care information technology and policies.
- Integrate evidence based nursing practice in the development of patient care information technology to improve patient outcomes.
- Utilize healthcare information technology resources for patient education.
