NURS 602 - Scientific Inquiry, Methods and Scholarship Units: 3 Principles of scientific inquiry and professional writing based on critical appraisal of evidence from quantitative and qualitative biomedical research. Research design, methodology, and the process of synthesizing and implementing nursing and biomedical research findings to address clinical problems are discussed.
Prerequisites: Admission to M.S. Nursing program. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Discuss the values of primary empirical research, methodological studies, historical research, and theory development and testing and how they are utilized in advancing nursing science.
- Apply rigorous principles of nursing inquiry and clearly communicate critical appraisals to provide essential evidence for nursing practice.
- Develop collaborative skills to work in inter-professional teams to synthesize data in order to improve care and support policy change through knowledge generation, dissemination and implementation.
- Understand the value and process of advocacy for ethical research participant protection and ethical translation of knowledge to practice.
