GEOG 110 - Physical Geography: Earth Processes and Outcomes

Major processes and components of the physical environment, including landforms, climate, hydrology, vegetation, and soils. Lecture Units: 2; Activity Units: 1.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. identify the outcomes of atmospheric processes with respect to weather and climate and explain the workings of the atmosphere on local, regional, and global scales,
  2. identify and describe the hydrosphere, especially with regard to water resources,
  3. identify and describe the character of biomes across the Earth with regard to climate and how they are changed by human impact,
  4. identify and explain the nature of soils, with special emphasis on the United States, and the major contributors to soil fertility and degradation,
  5. identify and explain the character of landforms in various environments and their formative processes,
  6. explain and describe the interconnections between and among the elements of physical geography that result different land-surface systems.

  2. demonstrate an understanding of scientific practices, including the scientific method; and
