MUS 355 - East Bay Jazz Orchestra

Major performance ensemble in the tradition of jazz big band. Field trip(s) may be required. Audition required.

Prerequisites: Department consent.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Develop skills necessary to perform in large jazz ensembles and big bands.
  2. Focus on ensemble and sectional blend, intonation, rhythmic cohesiveness and stylistic authenticity.
  3. Perform major venues and concerts.
  4. Learn Protocols for student ensemble performances as well as program building in music education settings.
