MUS 341 - Basic Conducting


Units: 3
Basic techniques of conducting including simple, compound and asymmetrical meters, expression and interpretation through observation and laboratory experience.

Prerequisites: Junior, senior or post-baccalaureate standing.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Develop the skills needed by conductors with an emphasis on physical gesture, score study, and expression.
  2. Develop inner hearing and interpretation skills.
  3. Have knowledge of noteworthy conducting scholarship and materials.
  4. Demonstrate understanding via in-class conducting presentations
