EDLD 780 - Dissertation Research for Equity and Social Justice I


Units: 3
Present preliminary dissertation findings in academic and professional venues. Investigates the ethical issues tied to format and styles used in disseminating research.  Evaluates the impact disseminating research has on promoting social justice in schools and communities.

Credit Restrictions: Open for credit to Ed.D. Cohorts only.

Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1.  Demonstrate understanding of how knowledge is constructed in education and related fields (8.1).  
  2.  Identify and analyze theoretical and ethical issues in knowledge construction and research practice (8.2).   
  3.  Identify, consult, and analyze the range of information producers and stakeholders for educational issues (8.3).
  4. Identify and analyze multiple perspectives that inform educational issues.  
  5.  Identify and analyze gaps and biases in professional knowledge (8.4).  
  6.  Assess research design, claims, evidence, validity, and value in theoretical and ethical context (8.5).  
  7.  Assess research design, claims, evidence, validity, and value in context of educational organizations, systems, and communities (8.6).  
  8.  Identify and analyze multiple research designs to best address gaps in knowledge (8.7).
  9. Design and apply appropriate research methodology in framing and carrying out inquiry.
  10.  Exhibit commitment to the role of practitioner-researcher as demonstrated by use of multiple avenues to create and share knowledge about local, state, and national educational issues (8.8).
