GEOG 360 - Computer Cartography Units: 3 Fundamentals of map design and communication theory; hands-on experience in computer mapping. Effective graphic representation of spatial data; concepts in spatial data structure and database management; and lab-oriented software applications.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate cartographic literacy in the form of identifying place location, map interpretation, and map creation.
- Apply the Gestalt theory of visual perception and the map communication theory in basic map design.
- Demonstrate the ability to quantitatively analyze and artistically communicate complex spatial phenomena through the use of maps and graphics.
- Attain working knowledge of using computer graphics software to create maps and graphics for communicative and/or analytical purposes.
- Apply the map communication theory in map design and graphic communication of spatial data.
