SLHS 403 - Audiometry Lab Units: 1 Provide students with supervised instruction and experience in audiometric screening. May be used for partial fulfillment of roles and responsibilities of SLP-Assistants or School Audiometrists.
Prerequisites: SLHS Declared Major Co-requisites: SLHS 402. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Identify the roles, responsibilities, and ethical conduct expected of a School Audiometrist.
- Conduct otoscopy for adults and children, under supervision.
- Complete 5-10 hours of screening audiometry using a variety of clinical techniques - pure tone audiometry, screening tympanometry, and otoacoustic emissions screening, under supervision.
- Write a clinical note reporting the results of a audiometric screening (e.g. Pass, Fail, Refer for in-depth assessment).
