COMM 321 - Research in Persuasive Communication

Social-scientific approaches to the study of persuasion. Emphasis on application of persuasion theories and principles, research on attitude structure and formation, attitude-behavior relationship, audience analysis, communication campaigns, and public opinion.  

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand basic theories and principles of persuasive communication;
  2. Survey and analyze an audience and adapt message strategies accordingly;
  3. Develop messages intended to influence attitudes and behaviors;
  4. Apply theories and principles of persuasion in written and oral discourse.
