Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Define social justice and relevant concepts such as objectivity, agenda setting, framing and priming as they relate to the media’s role in social issues
Explain important developments in the history of news media as it relates to social justice issues such as poverty, race, health care, and the environment
Demonstrate an understanding of media literacy and its relevance to social justice
Analyze and critique media examples in the context of concepts related to social justice and media literacy
Create an op-ed-style media critique (written, video, or audio) or original reporting project that explains power and social inequality within the context of ideas and concepts discussed in the course.
