HIST 403 - Digital Humanities


Units: 4
Investigation of Digital Humanities as a field, through case studies and exemplary community engagement projects. Practice with current digital tools for humanities inquiry and completion of a project with a historical focus. Identify professional organizations and advanced study opportunities.

Prerequisites: HIST 201
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online Asynchronous or Online Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Identify and evaluate Digital Humanities case studies and exemplary digital community engagement projects that involve historical questions and sources;
  2. Create Digital Humanities projects, using current and effective digital tools and work processes; 
  3. Summarize and practice ethical copyright use and appropriate attribution in Digital Humanities projects; 
  4. Define and describe ethical community engagement practices for Digital Humanities projects; 
  5. Collaborate to share Digital Humanities projects orally and to provide peer feedback on projects; 
  6. Identify professional organizations and opportunities for advanced study and careers in the field of Digital Humanities.
