STAT 303A - Biostatistics for Health Science


Units: 3
Basic probability and statistical concepts. Introduction to the analysis of variance, correlation, and simple linear regression. Nonparametric techniques with application to health sciences. Use of computer packages. Lecture Units: 2; Lab Units: 1.

Prerequisites: Completion of GE area B4.
Credit Restrictions: Not open to students with credit for STAT 303.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. The Lecture component of this course has the following student learning outcomes: apply basic computational skill, communicate statistical results to others, analyze data using appropriate statistical software and to interpret results.
  2. The Activity component of the course has the following student learning outcomes: select and use appropriate statistical software, communicate statistical results to others, all in respect to descriptive statistics, graphical displays, hypothesis testing and estimation, modeling and error analysis.
