TED 632 - Advanced Integrated Arts & Social Studies in Early Childhood Education


Units: 3
Curriculum and instruction for integrated arts and social studies education from birth through 8-years. Focus on visual and performing arts across the curriculum. Family and community cultures. Field component.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1.  Analyze the Arts and Social Studies national, state, and local documents, including, but not limited to, California Preschool Foundations & Framework, Common Core State Standards, NCSS, and NAEYC practices and principles.
  2.  Critically reflect on developmentally and culturally appropriate pedagogy to develop early learning experiences in the Arts and Social Studies.
  3. Identify methods for creating curriculum that exposes children to traditions and values of diverse communities and engage family support and involvement in children’s art and social studies education.
  4. Integrate technology as an instructional tool.
