POSC 330 - Voting and Public Opinion


Units: 3
Nature and causes of voter turnout and vote choice. Determinants and effects of public opinion. Methodology used for measurement and analysis of these subjects.

Prerequisites: STAT 100.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. The conceptualization and measurement of public opinion. 
  2. The nature of individual and mass political beliefs.
  3. The predictors of and influences upon political attitudes and behaviors.
  4. The consequences of public opinion and political behavior for elections, representation, and public policy.
  5. The distribution of particular beliefs, attitudes, and political activity in the American public.
