MGMT 499 - Seminar in Strategic Business Management


Units: 3
Use of business strategy concepts, tools, cases, and strategic planning to identify external influences on businesses, analyze the competitive environment in which organizations operate, assess strategic options for a firm, and craft plans for executing business strategy. Students must have application for graduation on file for department consent. Formerly BUS 499.

Prerequisites: MKTG 300, FIN 300, MGMT 350, and MGMT 370 or ACCT 370; completion of University Writing Requirement (UWR) and department consent.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Assess firms’ external environment including competitors, industries, institutions, and markets.
  2. Analyze firms’ internal resources and capabilities.
  3. Assess strategic options for a firm.
