ART 336 - Information Design Units: 3 Explore ways of making complex data, events and processes understandable to viewers through the creative use of animated visualizations, diagrams, maps, timeline, charts and interactive graphics. Considerations of information clarity, readability and editorial expression are covered.
Prerequisites: ART 330, ART 331. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of information design practice and related theories and principles;
- Use creative processes for visualizing highly complex concepts, large amounts of information and multidimensional data to make ideas more understandable, interesting, expressive and accessible to end users;
- Leverage current technologies, research methods and digital tools to collect, analyze, manipulate and map data to graphical elements for viewer presentation;
- Create clear, effective and compelling information hierarchies, narratives and well-crafted communications across a range of print (static) and screen (dynamic) presentation modes;
- Critically evaluate the design, readability, data interpretation and mode of information presentation directed to a specific purpose, situation and audience.
