SOC 425 - Work and Professions Units: 4 Analysis of the transformation of the work process in the modern United States from one led by industrial manufacturing to an increasingly de-industrialized workplace of services, product design, advertising and finance.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Understand how the structure of the workplace of the industrial working class affected the lives of working class people. (SLO3; Maps to PLO3)
- Grasp the fissured structure of the contemporary workplace and the often disadvantaged position of women, minorities and immigrants in these diverse workplaces. (SLO3; Maps to PLO3)
- Read and comprehend sociological theories of work, de-industrialization and the changed role of management in a fissured workplace.(SLO6; Maps to PLO 6)
