PSYC 310 - Conditioning and Learning


Units: 4
Introduction to the experimental analysis of animal learning and behavior with an emphasis on classical and instrumental/operant conditioning.  Additional topics will include non-associative learning, choice behavior, stimulus control, extinction, and aversive control.

Prerequisites: PSYC 200.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Explain the major empirical findings and theories of classical and instrumental/operant conditioning.
  2. Evaluate experiments using sound scientific methods as applied to animal learning and behavior.
  3. Apply the principles of learning to real world settings.
