The principles and methods of investigation used to acquire and to disseminate information about crimes.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe the constitutional and statutory mandates for investigation;
  2. Identify key constitutional articles and amendments, as well as case law decisions that proscribe an investigator’s work;
  3. Define fundamental nature and purposes of recording information and documentation;
  4. Explain the function of the crime lab, the value of physical evidence to an investigation;
  5. Summarize the fundamental purpose and nature of interviews.
