MUS 417 - Improvisation Techniques II Units: 1 Advanced techniques in jazz improvisation. Topics include harmonic superimposition, playing “out”, and poly-rhythms and cross-rhythms. Emphasis on the development of an idiomatic jazz style through the transcription and analysis of recorded solos by jazz masters.
Prerequisites: MUS 317. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 4 units. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
