Accounting and Analytics, B.S.
Program Description
The B.S. in Accounting and Analytics degree program combines traditional core accounting courses with cutting-edge, technology-based analytics courses to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in today’s dynamic accounting world. The program is designed to align with the Core-Plus-Discipline CPA Evolution model and offers students the flexibility to pursue different career paths, including the CPA track and non-CPA track. The CPA track includes three disciplines: business analysis and reporting (BAR), tax compliance and planning (TCP), and information systems and controls (ISC). Students on the non-CPA track will be ready to explore opportunities in government, non-profit, or private industries.
Program Learning Outcomes
Content Knowledge
- Core Accounting Knowledge. Students will be able to acquire the knowledge and skills including auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, and taxation and regulation. Students will be able to process data through underlying information technology (IT) systems for business decisions.
- Discipline-Specific Knowledge. Students will acquire higher level skills and knowledge in business analysis and reporting, information system and control, or tax compliance and planning.Students will be able to perform the essential job functions in corporate finance and management accounting for strategic business decisions.
Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills
- Thinking and Reasoning. Students will apply analytical reasoning to interpret data, predict outcomes, and make decisions.
- Technology-Based Analytics. Students will apply information technology to analyze business-related objectives, issues and problems and identify the data necessary for solutions.
Effective Communication
- Oral Communication. Students will be able to research, organize, and deliver an effective oral presentation in a professional manner.
- Written Communication. Students will be able to research, organize, and write an effective document in a professional manner.
- Information Literacy. Students will demonstrate professional communication skills to perform effectively as a team member.
Collaboration
- Students will know/understand the characteristics of effective collaboration.
Ethical Principles and Professional Standards (Ethics Competency)
- Students will recognize ethical issues in accounting and apply appropriate ethical perspectives in their decisions.

Admission Requirements
There are no changes to the admission requirements for BSAA from the current BSBA-Accounting Concentration. The admission requirements can be found in CSUEB admission office.

The baccalaureate degree requires a total of 120 units:
The major requirements consists of 75 units;
General Education & Graduation Requirements consists of 57 units;
Free Electives may consist of 0 units (actual number of free elective units may depend on GE/GR units).
