Mission Statement

The mission of the baccalaureate nursing program at Cal State East Bay is to prepare professional nurses committed to lifelong learning and excellence in the art and science of nursing practice in the many settings where we contribute to the health of communities. The nursing program supports and reflects the university’s mission of innovative learner-centered teaching, experiential learning, collaboration, and community-engaged learning to contribute to a just, equitable, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable world. We value a diverse nursing student body and socially inclusive practitioners of nursing who are equipped to provide high-quality care and have a transformative influence on nursing practice, healthcare environments, and the health of our community.

The mission of the Cal State East Bay’s graduate nursing program is to prepare professional nurses who are committed to the advanced practice of nursing and responsive to the ever changing needs of the communities we serve. The program therefore seeks to provide an inclusive community of learning focused on the development of lifelong learners. The nursing program supports and reflects the university mission of quality education for a diverse society. We value a diverse workforce, a diverse nursing student body, and culturally inclusive practitioners of nursing who are equipped to provide high quality care and have a transformative influence on nursing practice, healthcare environments, and the health of our community.
