Introduction
The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) is a world of many activities that involve thousands of students and hundreds of faculty, as well as guest performers, artists, and lecturers. In addition to traditional academic departments, the College includes galleries, institutes, centers, and museums, and its activities span scholarship and research, community outreach, and performance. CLASS is a collection of distinctly individual departments, majors, and faculty experts, featuring an enormous array of courses and degree programs, in addition to scores of activities for both the on-campus student and the community.
Mission Statement
The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences is committed to educational engagement through theory and practice, which enables our students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the human condition, diverse cultures and values, the natural world, and their own communities. CLASS students graduate with the foundation to be ethical and productive individuals, effective citizens, and informed participants in a global society.
