PSYC 203 - Introductory Seminar in Psychology Units: 1 This psychology seminar engages students in diverse professional and academic experiences, including research presentations, alumni panels, and career development activities. Emphasis is placed on critical reflection, discussion, and application of psychological knowledge to contemporary issues and professional pathways.
Prerequisites: Psychology Major Repeatability: Repeatable for credit up to 8 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Critically evaluate contemporary research and professional issues in psychology through engagement with seminar presentations and assigned readings.
- Demonstrate reflective thinking by producing written or oral reflections that explicitly connect seminar content to their own academic interests, career goals, and ethical/professional development as psychologists.
- Engage in professional discourse by formulating and asking evidence-based, informed questions to seminar speakers, and by contributing constructively to peer discussions that integrate course materials with broader psychological concepts.
